Self discipline
Self-discipline refers to the training that one gives one's self to accomplish a certain task or to adopt a particular pattern of behavior, even though one would really rather be doing something else.
yes, that's me. "rather be doing something else" like sleeping!
So, I wake up... Open my sorry eye's .... put a smile on my face.... say "bless the Lord"
and get me #$'@* out of bed....
NOW GO DO THE RIGHT THING! FOR ME!
Thus, self-discipline is the assertion of willpower over more base desires, and is usually understood to be a synonym of 'self control'. Self-discipline is to some extent a substitute for motivation, when one uses reason to determine a best course of action that opposes one's desires. Virtuous behavior is when one's motivations are aligned with one's reasoned aims: to do what you know is best and to do it genuinely gladly.
1 Peter 5:8 Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.
Proverbs 25:28
Like a city whose walls are broken down is a man who lacks self-control.
Good news... Motivation! is the key. Now say it with me "internal monolog"
I WANT to take care of me. I feel better, look better "am better" when I take care of me.
I choose to have Christ live in ME, therefore I need to take care of me, because I LOVE HIM who died for me!
Amen, and Amen
Salute!
